Description

1924 Chamonix Mont-Blanc Winter Olympics Poster. Simply extraordinary poster created to publicize the approaching Winter Games in Chamonix, France is an aesthetic masterpiece from the Golden Age of Sport. Matching the gorgeous graphics is the simply splendid condition in which this rare and collectible lithograph poster by "Cornille & Serre, Paris" survives, effectively flawless on its professional linen backing. The artwork derives from the hand of Auguste Matisse, a contemporary of, yet no relation to, famed painter Henri Matisse. Dimensions are 31x42", excluding the linen back. An offering that should equally tempt sports and poster collectors to bid aggressively.
