Description:
1930 Philadelphia Quakers Vs. Ottawa Senators Program. After getting off to a promising start in 1925-26 by making the playoffs in two of their first three seasons, the Pittsburgh Pirates fell on hard times on the ice and the box office. With the stock market crash of 1929 followed by the Great Depression, the team's owners were basically forced to sell off their star players and felt the need to move the team to Philadelphia. With that move the Philadelphia Quakers were born, but the franchise's financial woes continued, and as a result the team's 1930-31 season was its last. Offered here is a rarely seen original game program that features the gone but not forgotten Philadelphia squad. The contest saw the home team Ottawa Senators defeat the Quakers 5-2 on December 4, 1930, at Ottawa Auditorium. Exhibiting remarkable EX-MT quality throughout, this 6x9" program displays a nearly flawless surface, with a few light creases as its only detractors. Impressive and highly collectible artifact from the defunct Philly squad.
