Description

1979-80 New York Islanders Miniature Stanley Cup Championship Trophy. Before the 1979-80 postseason, New York Islanders general manager Bill Torrey made the tough decision to trade popular veterans Billy Harris and Dave Lewis for second line center Butch Goring. However, that decision turned out to be the right one, as Goring turned out to be the team's "final piece of the puzzle," en route to the Islanders first championship win in only its eighth season in the National Hockey League. Measuring at 13" this elegant Stanley Cup miniature is free of the typical tarnishing that most silver mini Cups exhibit. This cornerstone piece is of NM quality and features the engraved names of all the players, coaches and executives that were responsible for the Islanders' championship win. Personal trophies from Stanley Cup winners are very tough to come by in a hobby where head-turning display pieces are highly desirable, so don't let this end up in anybody else's collection other than your own.
