Description:
1934 Stanley Cup-Winning Second Overtime Goal Puck Scored by Mush March. Here we present the most historical Chicago Blackhawks goal puck ever auctioned off publicly. The Blackhawks were already in the NHL for eight seasons but to no avail, no Stanley Cup Championships. In 1931, the Hawks were defeated in five games by the Montreal Canadiens. In 1934, the team from the Windy City met the Detroit Red Wings in the Stanley Cup. Enormous crowds attended this series, and at the time a record was set for the 18,000-person game two attendance at Chicago Stadium. The Blackhawks were victorious two of the first three games, and the fourth game actually went thirty minutes of overtime until Mush March scored the game-winning goal against Detroit goal tender Wilf Cude. In an intriguing story, especially among game-used collectors, March, realizing the historical significance of this puck dove into the net and retrieved it, holding on to it for his entire life. The game puck is mounted on a classy wood plaque measuring at 6x8", with a gold plaque reading "Winning Puck Stanley Cup 1934 Mush March". Without question, there will be some historical institutions involved in the bidding on this one, as it is most definitely one of the most significant pieces of hockey history. LOA Harold March.
