KidSwing Golf Tournament and Texas Scottish Rite Hospital
The KidSwing Golf Tournament was founded in 2003 by former Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (TSRHC) patient, Ben Sater. When he discovered that patients receive treatment regardless of their ability to pay, he decided to use his love for golf to give back to the hospital by creating KidSwing, a 9-hole, best-ball scramble for players ages 7 to 18 of all levels of golf ability. KidSwing is a unique fundraising concept that is unparalleled. Unlike other charity golf tournaments, KidSwing is all about kids helping kids and gives local businesses and corporations the opportunity to help. There is no entry fee to play in the tournament, but players are encouraged to raise $100 by asking their friends and families to sponsor them. Building on the tremendous success of the original KidSwing-Dallas, two more tournaments were created - KidSwing-McKinney in 2008 and KidSwing-Trophy Club in 2011. More than 300 players participated in the Dallas, McKinney, and Trophy Club tournaments in 2011. Since its inception, KidSwing has raised an astounding $1.2 million for TSRHC.
Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children is one of the nation's leading pediatric centers for the treatment of orthopaedic conditions, certain related neurological disorders and learning disorders, such as dyslexia. Admission is open to Texas children from birth up to 18 years of age. Patients receive treatment regardless of the family's ability to pay.
