Description

1929 Bobby Jones Signed Photograph. Magnificent signed image of America's greatest Golden Age golfer finds Jones with the man he names "England's greatest golfer" in the lot that precedes this one. This is the photo that Jones references in that letter, inscribed to the mother of Phil Perkins, the man who stands at Jones' right shoulder. Paper caption on reverse of the 8x10" shot reads, "Final Day Amateur Golf Championship at Brae Burn C.C., T.P. Perkins...Runner Up. Bobby Jones...The Winner. 1928." In the same bold black fountain pen ink used to write the letter, the victor inscribes the image "To Mrs. Margaret G. Perkins with all good wishes, Robt. T. Jones, Jr." Certainly one of the finest Jones autographed pieces we've handled, dating to the very height of his considerable powers. Wear to the borders of the photo intrudes only occasionally and insignificantly upon the image itself. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. Pre-Certified by PSA/DNA.
