Description:
Circa 1961-62 Bill Groman Game Worn Houston Oilers Jersey. A true winner of the American Football League, wide receiver Bill Groman was a part of four AFL Championship teams during his six-year stint in the league, and the only man ever to do so. One of the stars of the colorful and exciting league, Groman tallied more receiving yards during his rookie campaign than any other player. Offered here is his flashy Houston Oilers cold weather heavy weight cotton road jersey that Groman wore in the early 1960's. A highly popular style among AFL enthusiasts, this superb example presents a beautiful baby blue ribbed knit collar, with red numerals and lettering in their proper positions. The back nameplate is beginning to separate from the stitching, as a result from the plate's heavier material, but could be easily repaired if a collector chooses that approach. Jersey exhibits many unrepaired holes around the right shoulder, while its original "[size] 50" tag is in the neckline and "Oshman's" tag is affixed to the rear interior tail. Unquestionably, a superior representation from the popular Ohio native's first team in the AFL. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
