Description:
Worn in record-breaking playoff victory over the Green Bay Packers
2013 Colin Kaepernick Game Worn San Francisco 49'ers Jersey, Cleats & Gloves. Every so often you get to witness a paradigm shift in professional sports. It may not always be positive, like the Steroid Age of Major League Baseball, but it's always thrilling to see. The 2012 NFL season provided a decidedly more welcome change to the status quo, as a new breed of quarterback emerged to give defensive coordinators stomach ulcers as they scrambled to find answers to a question that they'd never before been asked. Together with Washington Redskins rookie Robert Griffin III, Colin Kaepernick have redefined the notion of the mobile quarterback. From Fran Tarkenton to Aaron Rodgers, there had long been a class of elite QB's able to buy time in the pocket with agility and elusiveness, but here was a pair with an unprecedented will and ability to venture into the danger that lurked beyond the line of scrimmage.

Presented is a jersey worn in a performance unparalleled in the long history of the National Football League, as Kaepernick rebounded from an early pick-six to lead his 49'ers to a stunning forty-five to thirty-one victory over the Green Bay Packers. With sixteen rushes for an all-time QB record 181 yards, including a record fifty-six yard dash to paydirt, the longest postseason touchdown ever authored at the quarterback position, Kaepernick orchestrated one of the greatest performances in NFL history in just his eighth career start. He added two touchdowns through the air to his two on the ground, passing for 263 yards to conclude his total game yardage at an eye-popping 444.

His unwashed red mesh jersey from the historic contest exhibits the exceptional wear one would expect from Kaepernick's gutsy playing style, with no shortage of dirt and impact marks sustained from repeated sorties into enemy territory. Number "7" appears in white tackle twill at chest, shoulders and reverse, where "Kaepernick" is applied to a plate in 2.5" block. The sleeves are custom shortened and elasticized. Interior collar bears unique "Nike NFL" labeling with size "42" and year "2012" designators.

Kaepernick's autograph completes the package on the reverse, the 10/10 black sharpie offering underscored by a notation that reads "1/12/23, 4 TDs, 181 YDs Rushing NFL Record, 45-31 Win vs. GB Packers, First Playoff Win." This is the first Kaepernick gamer to be offered at auction, and a piece that could be a six-figure item someday if such early brilliance is a true indication of things to come.

Also here are the cleats and single gloves (both left handed, switched at halftime) worn by Kaepernick in the contest, all showing solid game wear. Each piece is likewise autographed and notated by the record-breaking quarterback. Copy of Sports Illustrated picturing Kaepernick in the jersey is included. Letter of provenance from Colin Kaepernick. Full LOA from PSA/DNA (autograph). Full LOA from James Spence Authentication (autograph). Jersey appears on cover of Sports Illustrated and ESPN: The Magazine and a copy of each is included in the lot.
