1939 Green Bay Packers Team Signed Football - NFL Championship Season!...
Proudest boy at the Elks' Father and Son party last night was Gerald Kosnar, 10, shown here as he received a football autographed by all members of the Packer team from Whitey Woodin, former Packer, while Exalted Ruler Earl H. Eklund looks on.
The "proudest boy" at the Elks' event is now one of Heritage Auctions' proudest consignors, as this 1939 Green Bay Packers world championship team-signed football is one of our highlighted gridiron pieces currently up for auction. An extremely rare "Spalding - Joe Carr" NFL game ball, this amazing pigskin represents the famed Packers squad that defeated the New York Giants 27-0 on December 10, 1939 at Milwaukee State Fair Park's Dairy Bowl in the league championship game.
Ball exhibits light wear, while it no longer holds air. Key signatures are included: Curly Lambeau (barely visible, but definitely present), Arnie Herber (8/10), Clarke Hinkle (8/10), Joe Laws (7/10), Cecil Isbell (6/10), Buckets Goldenberg (6/10), Don Hutson (barely visible), Milt Gantenbein (7/10), Eddie Jankowski (6/10) and others.
One of few 1939 Packers team-signed championship examples in existence, this piece of NFL history is unquestionably one of the most "Canton worthy" footballs ever offered publicly. Letter of provenance from Gerald Kosnar. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
