Late 1980's Larry Bird Game Worn Shoes. ...
Ball boys are one of the few outsiders allowed in basketball's most inner sanctum. James Shorter served as a ball boy and helped in the capacity of visiting locker room attendant for the Detroit Pistons from 1988-93. He enjoyed a bird's eye view of the Bad Boy teams which won back-to-back NBA titles. The likes of Larry Bird, Isiah Thomas, Scottie Pippen, Joe Dumars and Michael Cooper were just some of the men who the youngster called friend during his association with the organization. Heritage Auctions has the honor of offering some of Shorter's personal treasures, given to him by NBA stars of the 1980's.
Sports enthusiasts will forever associate Michael Jordan with "Nike", Muhammad Ali with "Everlast" and, of course, the great Larry Bird with "Converse." Originally obtained from former Detroit Pistons ball boy James Shorters in the late 1980's, here we present Celtics' legend Larry Bird's game-worn black and white "Converse" game-worn sneakers.
Exhibiting solid wear from the Palace of Auburn Hills, and most likely some games on the famed Boston Garden parquet, these no longer have the size tag present, but definitely measure to Bird's typical size (approximately "[size] 15"). Letter of provenance from former Pistons ball boy. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
