1972 Larry Yount Game Issued Houston Astros Jersey. Even Moonlight Graham has him beat. A star pitcher in his youth, Larry was considered by many to be the better ballplayer of the Yount brothers, but in the end his career couldn't have been more different from Robin's. In his debut appearance as a reliever for the Astros on September 15, 1971, Larry experienced elbow pain during warm-ups and retired to the clubhouse without ever throwing a pitch. He would never return to a Big League mound. Presented is the road grey knit issued to Larry Yount for the 1972 season, never worn in competition and later sent down to the minors where the name on back was stripped. The "Yount" outline is still readily visible, however. "Houston" remains in bold orange and navy tackle twill on the chest, with number "31" similarly applied to verso. Team logo patch on left sleeve. Zipper front. Tagging at interior rear tail announces "Spalding Professional [size] 42" with "72" year tag. Solid minor league wear. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
