Description:
1960 Johnny Podres Game Worn Los Angeles Dodgers Jersey. Like the 1961 Los Angeles Angels jersey also presented within this auction, this gamer was issued to the farm club player who consigned it to Heritage. And, like the Angels shirt, this one was spared any post-Majors alteration by the fact that the farm club was likewise headquartered within the Los Angeles city limits. But whereas the Angels jersey never saw action in the Big Leagues, this one was once owned and worn by one of the great heroes of Dodgers lore, the man whose shutout performance in Game Seven of the 1955 World Series gave the Bums their first and only Brooklyn World Championship.

The road grey flannel exhibits heavy wear indicative of both Major and minor league use, again particularly apparent in the fraying of the piping which runs the length of the button path and around the collar and cuffs. "Los Angeles 22" is applied to the chest in blue and red felt, with number "22" repeated on verso. Proper "Spalding [size] 44" labels appear at lower left exterior tail, above a blue chainstitched "Podres 60" embroidered directly into the jersey body. Scattered staining on the front is not particularly prominent and does little to distract. A solid specimen from the second of Podres' three career All-Star seasons. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
