1946 Mexico City Aztecs Game Worn Jersey. The class B Mexican National League said "buenas noches" almost as quickly as it said "buenos dias," lasting just a single season before admitting defeat by the outlaw Mexican League which featured such legends as Martin Dihigo and Ray Dandridge. Here we present one of the only known surviving gamers from that blink of a baseball eye, worn by a member of the Mexico City Aztecs team which closed its abridged season with a record of sixteen and thirteen. The heavy wool flannel gamer presents a blue and red felt "Aztecs" across the chest and a number "15" similarly applied to verso. Collar holds a "Dodge Davis Flannel Tailored by Raleigh" label, the size flap tag worn beyond repair, suggesting use by a secondary squad after the death of the League. The jersey itself exhibits a few scattered moth holes, none larger than the tip of a cigarette, and presents beautifully as our catalog imagery should attest. An intriguing, almost forgotten chapter of the story of baseball south of the border. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
