Description:
1946 Cass Michaels Game Worn Chicago White Sox Uniform. Just seventeen when he made his White Sox debut during the Second World War, Michaels was still only twenty when he sported this road grey uniform during his fourth season on the Windy City roster. The jersey is as patriotic as they come, with a faded blue and red felt "Chicago" arching gently across the chest and number "28" on reverse. And note the Health/War patch on the left sleeve--this was sported on every Major League jersey from 1942 through 1945, but only the ChiSox continued the trend into the 1946 campaign, and only on their roadsters. The zipper front of the jersey remains fully functional, and the "MacGregor Goldsmith size 44" label survives at interior collar. An embroidered "Michaels 46" swatch is sewn just below.

Matching pants were sourced with the jersey, but no player attribution is present within the waistband, simply a "MacGregor Goldsmith size 38" label. Finally, a pair of striped wool stirrups complete the ensemble. All pieces exhibit solid wear with light scattered staining that does little to distract the eye. Just the second example of this rare jersey to reach the major auction block, and the first full uniform. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
