The understated style shows nice wear from appearances at Yankee Stadium and Fenway Park, with a black felt "W" over the heart and a rather diminutive number "11" on verso. The rare and distinctive "Health" patch on the left sleeve assures 1942 vintage, as the format was altered slightly for the remainder of the war years. Interior collar is tagged "Spalding [size] 44," with an embroidered "E Wynn" swatch just below. Close inspection reveals minimal pink dye transfer to the jersey body, but our catalog imagery should indicate that the effect is all but invisible upon display.
The number of Wynn jerseys to surface in the collecting hobby could be counted on a single hand, but our auction database reveals not a single other Senators representation, establishing this quite firmly as the most desirable of that thin supply. A Cooperstown-quality garment for the advanced collector. LOA from MEARS, A10. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
