Description:
1927 New York Yankees Team Photograph from Yankee Stadium Clubhouse. The greatest team ever. The greatest stadium ever. Each is now, sadly, only a memory, but this important piece survives to bear witness to the days when Ruth was manning the House he Built. For decades the presented photograph served as an inspiration to the likes of DiMaggio, Mantle, and Munson in the Yankee clubhouse, the club's second World Championship team providing guidance for the dozens to follow. The 16 x 20" image enjoys marvelous clarity and contrast, providing the viewer with Ruth and Gehrig in their prime, the diminutive Hall of Fame manager Miller Huggins, Hall of Fame hurlers Hoyt and Pennock, and the rest of the legendary Murderer's Row.

A few bumps and bruises are only to be expected given its long history, and some small gouges to the image are will be readily apparent in our catalog photography. Note the brown scuffing on the Babe's belly--that's from thousands of Yankee fingers rubbing him like a Buddha for good luck on their way to the playing field! The edges of the masonite board upon which the photo is mounted bears the unmistakable Yankee blue paint of the stadium walls. Having resided for decades at baseball's most hallowed ground, the offered lot could be considered practically priceless to the devout Yankees fan.
