Description:
1924 World Series Panoramic Photograph with President Coolidge. Extraordinarily rare and desirable photograph stands among the finest of its endangered breed, both for its expanded dimensions and its superb condition. A true photographic work of art, the image provides a flawlessly executed study of the combatants in this famous Fall Classic which earned Walter Johnson and our nation's capital a first and only World Championship. Issued only to players and VIP's, these oversized images were already rare upon the date of production, with the oversized dimensions and delicate construction conspiring to thin the ranks considerably over the passing decades since. Just a slight hint of scrolling along the top edge must be noted in terms of condition, but you must look closely to spot it. We invite interested bidders to examine the ultra-high resolution images online to see for themselves.

President Coolidge stands at dead center of the image in the first row of the grandstand, framed by warring Hall of Fame managers Bucky Harris and John McGraw, though the latter had taken a professional leave of absence for health reasons, ceding control of the club to his former 1894 Baltimore Orioles teammate and the third Hall of Fame manager in the image, Hughie Jennings. Other Cooperstown enshrinees pictured include Walter Johnson, Sam Rice, umpire Bill Klem, Hack Wilson, George Kelly, Frank Frisch, Travis Jackson, Ross Youngs and, over Coolidge's right shoulder, a white-haired Kenesaw Mountain Landis. The wide white borders were left intact by the printer, expanding the 9.5x42" image area by five horizontal inches. Framed size is 11x48".
