Description

1897 Harvard University Baseball Team Imperial Cabinet Photograph. The baseball team of the Harvard class of 1898 celebrates its victory over historic rival Yale with a photograph to commemorate the occasion. The magnificent sepia image finds the Harvard nine and their manager posing with a sign recounting the seven to four victory, with the details repeated in a vintage handwritten notation "Har.-98 - 7 - Yale-98-4. May 21, 1897" on the photographic matting. Here we find a degree of dampstaining, but it must be stressed that the image itself presents perfectly. The Pach's Brothers studios photo measures 10x13" in size, with the period frame extending the final dimensions to 18x22".
