Description:
1958 Brooks Robinson Game Used Bat. The unique characteristics of this signature model Hillerich & Bradsby O1S allow the experts at PSA/DNA to pinpoint the derivation of the important lumber to two orders made on May 22nd and July 9th of 1958, effectively the future Hall of Famer's rookie season as Robinson had made only seventy-one appearances in the three years prior. We believe this scarce lumber is the earliest Robinson bat to reach the auction block, but the heavy use and perfect match to factory records (thirty-four inches and twenty-eight and a half ounces) further augment the appeal and fuel the impressive GU 8.5 rating. Ball and stitch marks abound, with the punishment swelling the grain on the back barrel. Handle exhibits Robinson's scoring for grip, and is bolstered by a few small nails to repair the crack that ended its service. This rare relic is derived from the personal collection of a former Washington Senators bat boy, with his letter of provenance. Black sharpie signature on the barrel rates 10/10, nicely completing the package. Letter of provenance from Senators bat boy. LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 8.5. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA (autograph). Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
