Description:
1959 Stan Musial 3,200th Hit Baseball--A Titanic Home Run! The legendary Cardinal pulled even with this huge milestone in style, recording the 3,200th hit of his career with a seventh-inning home run blast off Chicago Cubs southpaw Art Ceccarelli on September 20, 1959 that rattled the pavilion roof of Busch Stadium before settling back into the outfield grass. A red circle is drawn around the dark scuff the ONL (Giles) ball suffered in the collision beside a notation identifying the cause of the bruise. The other panels feature further neatly penned lettering that note the details of the game and the significance of the achievement, stating that this 411th career home run was sixth best in Major League history, and second in the National League.
Letter of provenance from the Musial family.
