Description:
1943 Joe Gordon World Series Game One Home Run Baseball, Single Signed. The home run baseball industry has grown exponentially through the years. What better way to celebrate history than owning the exact orb which was used during a historic encounter. This OAL (Harridge) baseball was sent into orbit by Joe Gordon in Game 1 of the 1943 World Series. Following its capture, the ball was presented to Gordon who gladly signed on in black ink. "Caught by Lt. Hal Sehres U.S.A. Sec. 35" is written on one side panel while a separate panel has "Oct. 5 1943 Home Run Ball 1st Game World Series Yankee Stadium" written. "Hit By" and a downward arrow point to Gordon's signature. The ball has a heavy top coating applied. The stampings are visible, although faded. Gordon has proved a major challenge for single-signed baseball collectors as he died in 1978 and didn't gain Hall of Fame inclusion until 2009. Simply put, there just aren't enough singles to go around. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
