1910 E98 "Set of 30" Honus Wagner, Red PSA NM-MT+ 8.5 - Black Swamp Find. Second only to the great Ty Cobb in value within this thirty-card issue, the Old Dutchman shows the fielding form that made him the first shortstop to enter the Baseball Hall of Fame. As is characteristic of the "Black Swamp" find of E98 Caramel cards, this one is close to pristine. The colors are so vibrant it's tough to believe that this card celebrated its centennial two years ago, and a magnifying glass is necessary to discern any hint of corner tip wear that affects only one corner. A small speck of supervenient paper fiber shows in the lower left corner of the robust red background. Graded PSA NM-MT+ 8.5, one of two at this elevated plateau with one higher.

Just months ago, the most significant trading card find in hobby history emerged from a small Ohio town, neat individual player stacks of untouched cards, each banded by a short length of twine tied by a print shop employee a full century ago. Discovered in an attic in a box long forgotten beneath an ancient dollhouse, these stunningly pristine relics from the Dead Ball Era made their hobby debut in the August 2012 Platinum Night auction in Baltimore, providing the Heritage clientele with an opportunity outpacing even the most fanciful dreams of the pre-war trading card collector. Named for the damp landscape on the edge of Defiance, Ohio, where the cards served their one hundred years of solitude, the Black Swamp Find provides candy card collectors with the opportunity to add a scarce high-grade issue to their collection which was never available before. Here we make the first public offering, and possibly the only offering, of individual cards from that historic find. The remainder of the find will be offered as complete sets via private treaty sale, so this represents the best opportunity for bidders that are interested in owning an individual card from the Black Swamp Find to add one to their collection now.
