Description:
1933 Goudey Benny Bengough #1 SGC 86 NM+ 7.5 - Pop One with One Higher! This is the only example to generate an 86 NM+ 7.5 label from SGC with only one copy grading higher. From the highly coveted classic series issued by Goudey in 1933 we present this beautiful #1 card featuring the Browns' backstop Benny Bengough. Although Benny will never see his portrait on the wall of the Hall of Fame if the hobby had a card HoF this card would be a member. This is quite possibly the most famous "common" in the hobby. All first cards are tougher to find in high grade and no set shows us that more than the '33 Goudey series. For whatever reason this high end example has managed to survive with no damage to the card's surface and retains four sharp corners. A shift in the 25/75 centering and who knows what the SGC label could have read. A top of the line copy of the hobby's most condition sensitive cards.
