1932 U.S. Caramel Babe Ruth #32 SGC 84 NM 7....
1932 U.S. Caramel Babe Ruth #32 SGC 84 NM 7. Other than a 1916 rookie few dates mean more to Ruth enthusiasts than 1932, the year of the famous "Called Shot" and the fact that few Ruth card collectibles bear this circulation date. With little else to compare, the US Caramel series would have been well-loved at the time, and hence bearing the signs of handling by young hands affording no thought to future monetary value. Lastly, the Babe finds himself the final card in this issue of thirty-two, leaving him in real danger of the excess wear generally plaguing the first and last cards in a set. Graded SGC 84 NM 7, this card is one of a pair to earn the assessment with three others grading higher! With a total SGC population of only 47 examples, the existence of one so fine challenges the laws of probability. The only hints of the passing of eight decades lie in the slight mellowing of the white frame and modest wear at the outer corner tips. A barely perceptible trace of ghosting is found in the left portion of the red field. The condition report wouldn't be complete without the mention of the absence of any printing imperfections and a close-to-perfectly-centered portrait benefiting from precise color registration. The reverse is as vibrant and free of imperfections as is the obverse. A tremendous addition to any vintage baseball card of Babe Ruth specialty collection.
