Description:
1939 Baseball Hall of Fame Inaugural Class Multi-Signed Display. Extraordinary celebration of the men honored at the 1939 ribbon-cutting ceremony in Cooperstown provides a high-quality autograph exemplar for each of the iconic eleven. Moving clockwise from top left we encounter:

Connie Mack (cut signature), Napoleon Lajoie (signed index or postcard dated "8-10-50"), George Sisler (cut signature), Tris Speaker (collector's autograph card with addition writing "Mgr. Cleveland BB Club, April 19, '21"), Cy Young (magazine photograph), Eddie Collins (cut signature from letter or contract), Ty Cobb (1941 personal check entirely in Cobb's hand), Walter Johnson (cut signature from check glued to first day cover), Honus Wagner (1918 personal check entirely in Wagner's hand), Babe Ruth (album page or blank business card), G.C. Alexander (small photograph inscribed "Best of Luck to Buzzy & Don, Grover Cleveland Alexander").

While similar collections often economize in their choices, each autograph example here rates 9/10 or better, and such pieces as the personal checks and the very tough full name Alexander signed photo are particularly more expensive than simple cuts. No expense is spared in the display either, the autographs professionally matted and framed with individual Perez-Steele cards and a central photographic print of the Cooperstown festivities that twelfth day of June, 1939. Full framed dimensions are 41x47". Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. Third party shipping required.
