Though Charleston had hung up his spikes for good after his service to the 1941 Philadelphia Stars at the age of forty-five, his vast experience and great intelligence made the man considered by many to be the greatest Negro League player of all time an obvious choice for the skipper role. His black fountain pen ink signatures each rate a stunning 9+/10, one entirely clear of the bank's stamping and the other intersecting but to no major distraction. The check itself exhibits a vertical center fold but no other condition issues of note. Considering the extreme scarcity of Charleston signatures, one could rightfully assume that an opportunity such as this will not surface anytime soon, if ever again. Bid accordingly. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
