Description:
1946-48 Ted Williams Game Worn & Signed Boston Red Sox Undershirt. The dream of owning a genuine Ted Williams game worn Red Sox jersey will remain only that for all but the most well-funded collectors among us, but this humble offering could change all that for one enterprising member of the Kid's still-populous fan base. The experts at MEARS have pegged the vintage of this rare garment to a three-season span that began with Teddy Ballgame's return from World War II service, and ended with his switch to a size "46" jersey in 1949. MEARS notes that names were chain-stitched in BoSox undershirts prior to 1950 as well, though multiple washings and excessive wear have left only fragments of the "Ted I" embroidery beneath the proper "Tim McAuliffe" label. MEARS comes to the size "44" from a measurement of the chest, as the size label is likewise missing. The tail and a portion of the collar area are trimmed away, and a rip snakes midway up the right rib, but imperfect condition here is a glass half full, remember? A black sharpie signature on the chest is 10/10. LOA from MEARS, Authentic. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication (autograph). .

Needless to say I was overwhelmed by the results of the auction and I truly believe it was Jill’s efforts in promoting and displaying the piece that brought in the extra value.
