1954 Sam Rice Single Signed Baseball. Along with Walter Johnson, this future Hall of Famer served as the great baseball hero of our nation's capital for the better part of two decades, though few knew that he carried a tragic memory with him throughout his Major League career. While touring with his minor league club in 1912, a tornado swept through his hometown of Morocco, Indiana, killing his wife, parents, siblings and two children. The tough-as-nails Rice never spoke of the awful loss, however, not even to his second wife who learned of the event from a 1950's newspaper article. Here we present a rare single from the brave and brilliant Senator, his 9+/10 blue ink adorning the side panel of a "MacGregor" baseball. An unknown hand has dated the signature to 1954. Fewer than ten Rice singles have reached the major auction block in the past dozen years. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.

I know for a fact that the sale by Heritage was way beyond what I was offered by other people. If I had to do it over again, I would absolutely choose Heritage again.
