Heritage Sports Collectibles Presents Its Greatest Auction Yet!
DALLAS, TEXAS: Heritage Sports Collectibles (HSC) will present a staggering array of vintage sports collectibles, in their upcoming October 29, 2005 Signature Auction to be held in Dallas, Texas.
"This is, without a doubt, the finest auction we've ever held," said Chris Ivy, Director of HSC. "There are a number of fabulous items offered here, so many that I almost don't know where to start."
"Baseball fans won't want to miss the historic Mickey Mantle batting trophy," Ivy said. "It was awarded to the young slugger while he was still a minor leaguer in Joplin, Missouri in 1950. This is the earliest known Mantle trophy, and it was one of his proudest possessions."
"We're also offering a jersey worn by the legendary Ted Williams in his final season of 1960. It is impossible to prove definitively, but this could very well be the very jersey Williams was wearing as he hit the last of his 521 home runs in the final game of his career."
"And let's not forget Muddy Ruel's 1924 Tour of Europe Chicago White Sox uniform, one of only two known to exist. The only other known example is Sam Rice's, which is housed in Cooperstown."
"Of course, this auction isn't all about baseball," Ivy said. "For football fanatics, we're presenting a Joe Namath game worn Jersey and memorable Sideline Beanie, circa 1971-72. This spectacular jersey, and the green-and-white beanie that Namath made famous, will certainly be the highlight of any football collection."
"Basketball fans won't want to miss the pair of Wilt Chamberlain game worn jerseys offered in this auction," Ivy continued, "one from the 1962-63 season when he played with the San Francisco Warriors. And one from 1968-69 season, which represents his earliest and most desirable Lakers jersey to ever hit the public market. As one of the most significant players in the history of the game, these jerseys are worthy of a home in the finest collections."
"Of course, there's also a plethora of vintage sports cards in this auction," Ivy said, "including a 1948 Bowman Stan Musial # 36 PSA Gem Mint 10 which has to be seen to be believed. Free from the miscuts or printing errors that mar many of the issues from this run, this is a true beauty. Another stunner is the ultra rare 1951 Bowman Willie Mays #305 GAI Mint 9 rookie. This represents one of the toughest rookie cards in the hobby to get in a strong grade and I've never come across one that is this perfect."
"I'd be remiss not to mention the Ban Johnson Official American League baseball signed by 'Babe' Ruth" said Ivy. "This is an early, particularly desirable specimen that dates to the era of the Babe's famed sixty home run season." And no sports fan will want to miss the massive 1926 World Series panoramic photograph dating from Babe Ruth's greatest game, a piece that may well take the prize for Best Sporting Photograph Auctioned in 2005.
There's also the 1880's John L. Sullivan Fight Worn Boxing Belt & Sash, a true 'Holy Grail' for any boxing collector."
"There's something for everyone in this auction," said Ivy, "and this only skims the surface. We are offering the personal collections of several Hall of Famers and legends of the game including: The Casey Stengel Collection, The Frank 'Home Run' Baker Collection, The Herold 'Muddy' Ruel Collection, The Dave Wilcox Collection, The Marques Haynes Collection, and The Len Bias Collection. I'd invite every sports fan to take a look at HeritageSportsCollectibles.com to see the rest of the treasures offered in this exciting event."
