Heritage Amazing Sports AuctionTM Internet 44111

Dallas, Texas: Heritage's Amazing Sports AuctionTM (ASA) sale #44111 ended Sunday, November 28, 2004. 170 bidders placed bids, and 58 of them were successful, for a total sell-through of $17,665.90.

A few highlights from the 11/28/04 ASA sale are:

1887 Allen & Ginter N28 Mike Kelly SGC EX+ 70.
A gorgeous card that remembers the great King Kelly, whose 19th century baseball heroics earned him a posthumous Hall of Fame plaque. Tremendous eye appeal. Realized $1,434.00

1935 Babe Ruth Signed Cardinals Boys Band I.D. Card.
The Babe was in his final season as a player when he made young Melvin York's day by signing the front of his "Cardinal Boys Band" identification card in 9/10 pencil. Joining him (upside down) is fellow Hall of Famer Dizzy Dean, one year after the great Gas House Gang World Championship. Card shows typical wear for a seventy-year old child's artifact, and while foxing and an inch-long tear meet with Dizzy's autograph, the Babe is unmolested. Verso of card has the rules of membership, which include promising never to skip school to attend a game. Measures 2.25x4". LOA from James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA. Realized $1,434.00

1976 New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball with Munson
The Bronx Bombers triumphantly returned to the World Series for the first time since 1964. Munson is the key signature on this OAL McPhail ball, and that year he would hit .475 in the postseason. Tons of legends here, beyond the essential, tragic Thurman Munson: Berra, Chambliss, Nettles, Lyle, Hunter, and Martin (stamped). Signature quality averages 8/10, with only a few lighter (Munson is 9/10). LOA from James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA. Realized $1,075.50

Photo for this card of HOFer and Home Run King Hank Aaron of the Milwaukee Braves was inexplicably reversed. 1957 was the first year Topps went to its now-standard size, use of real color photos, and complete player statistics. This Aaron is a great sample with clean creamy-white borders and four very sharp corners. Realized $609.45
