Description:

1978 Curley Culp Pro Bowl Game Worn Helmet. "Curly Culp was a tremendous athlete," Hall of Fame quarterback Len Dawson once said. "He had such strength and quickness. I remember [fellow Chiefs teammate] Jack Rudnay used to say that every center in the league should have to go against Curly in order to know what it's like to go against the very best." The star nose tackle participated in six Pro Bowls during his fourteen-year career, and here we present his game worn helmet from the 1978 edition. It's the helmet he wore all year as a member of the Houston Oilers, painted red for the game and affixed with decals denoting his AFC affiliation. Shell is by "Bike," with original green dot full cage mask and interior padding present, and Culp's number "76 decals are applied to sides of center striping on verso. Helmet was sourced directly from Culp's personal collection, and photo of Culp with his collection, including this helmet, will be furnished to the winning bidder. LOA from Lou Lampson.
