Description:

1933 R319 Goudey Babe Ruth #149 SGC 92 NM/MT+ 8.5. Magnificent representation of this key card from one of the hobby's most beloved issues transports us back to the days of the Depression without the unpleasantry of failed banks and bread lines. Essentially untouched by the passing of three quarters of a century, this gorgeous relic provides marvelous centering and spotless surfaces to go along with the utter absence of wear. To give the clearest indication of the superiority of this specimen, we must note that it stands alone at the top of the SGC population report, and is tied with just a single 8.5 graded example slabbed by PSA, likewise the finest on their charts. For many whose cardboard concentration tends toward the bubble gum era, this will be considered the most noteworthy auction offering of 2008. It would be difficult to dispute this opinion.
