Description:

1928 Tony Lazzeri "Lucky Strike" Trolley Sign. Highly collectible advertising sign pictures the great New York Yankees Hall of Fame second baseman, an integral part of the Championship equation the year of issue. This is one of a series of similar signs issued by the tobacco purveyors using the star power of eventual Hall of Famers to market their smokes. This example shows definite usage, with several small holes, a diagonal center crease and a degree of loss to the lower right corner. An amateur restoration attempt is visible, though it should be noted that a true professional could quite easily bring this piece back to something approximating a NRMT appearance, as the colors remain bright and the damage is fairly localized, leaving large areas of the sign in essentially pristine condition. Given the tremendous rarity and desirability of these signs, however, a degree of condition problems can certainly be forgiven.
