Description:

1925 Washington Senators Visit White House Tremendous Photograph. Like the 1924 large photo of the Senators visiting the White House in this auction, we must strongly assume that this remarkable piece once resided at Washington's Griffith Park, as the enormous size (22x40") and frame style are consistent with pieces known to have served similar duty. Intriguingly, this photo was snapped just over a week before the beginning of the World Series, and four days after the squad clinched the American League pennant for the second consecutive season. Joining President Coolidge, who stands at center of the back row, are all the notable names--Johnson, Rice, Griffith, Harris, Goslin, Coveleski, Ruel and more, each man in the photo idenfied in the key at right. The photo appears to be mounted to a period cardboard backing, and a touch of wear at upper left corner, well clear of the photo's central focus, is the only condition flaw to be found. A visually stunning piece with tremendous historical significance.
