Description:

1908 "A Yard of the National Game" Chicago Cubs Panorama. Who could have imagined, when this majestic production piece was issued to commemorate back to back World Championships in 1908, that Cubs fans would still be waiting for the next one almost a century later? Return to those carefree days when baseball glory seemed to grow on Chicago trees with this remarkable rarity, documenting the men and the grounds that last saw world domination. The center of the 14x46" display is occupied by a terrific panoramic photo picturing the entirety of West Side Park, abandoned for Wrigley in 1916. Individual portraits of such legends as Tinker, Evers, Chance and Mordecai "Three Fingers" Brown line the upper edge, with panoramic photos of the team in uniform and in civilian garb balance the piece below. Condition is so remarkably strong, with just a few very minor instances of wrinkles and toning, that one look should take the sting out of ninety-eight years of despair for the unfortunate Cubs fan. Certainly one of the finest examples of this scarce piece on earth.
