Description:

1930's House of David Baseball Broadside. One of the most bizarre and intriguing chapters in baseball history was populated by a barnstorming band of long haired Israelites who traveled the country preaching the gospel and taking on Industrial, Negro and Major League teams on the way. Offered here is a broadside for one of their many tour dates, picturing most notably Jesse Lee "Doc" Tally, who revolutionized the use of baseball as a way to bring the masses out to listen to the House's missionary sermons. The photographic image at top is hugely significant as well, as the House of David was the first to play at night, carting massive electric lights across the country to illuminate the local sandlots, as is pictured here. Condition is remarkably strong for a piece of this size and vintage, with the entirety of the minimal wear confined to the narrow borders of the piece. When framed, the 14x22" poster will present as NRMT.
