Description

1938 Dick Schweidler Game Worn Chicago Bears Uniform. Direct from the former halfback with his signed letter of provenance comes this tremendously rare pre-war NFL uniform, worn during Schweidler's rookie season on the field with the likes of coach George Halas and quarterback Bernie Masterson. The long-sleeved white durene jersey features the black and orange sleeve striping that instantly identifies it as a Windy City model, with number "31" applied to front and back in black tackle twill. Ancient "Sand-Knit" label in tail notes local Chicago manufacturing and size "42." Elbows are padded and jersey exhibits what appears to be strong wear with apparent field paint, blood and some unrepaired holes in the shoulder area and rear numerals. It is possible that some of this wear is from decades of storage. The matching pants retain their knee padding and exhibit fine wear but no damage. Tagging at the interior crotch announces "May & Halas Sports Equipment Chicago," and "King Sportswear Company" with "31-Regular-32" size labels. Together the uniform pieces make for a spectacular display that would be a proud addition to one's trophy room. Letter of provenance from Dick Schweidler. LOA from Lou Lampson.
