Description

Mid-1980's Julius Erving Game Worn Uniform. In much the same way that Babe Ruth revolutionized the sport of baseball with his power, Dr. J can be credited with forever changing the way basketball is played, taking the action above the rim and bringing the slam dunk into the American lexicon. Presented here is one of the last uniforms ever worn by this transformative icon of the professional hardcourt, almost certainly dating to the 1986-87 season that saw Erving sink his final basket.

The road white mesh jersey sports "Sixers 6" in blue and red tackle twill on the chest, and "Erving 6" on verso. Dual "Sand-Knit" tagging in tail speaks to "76'ers Exclusivity" and size "40." Tailoring swatch to the left expresses "2" L.B." Matching shorts feature the 76'ers disk logo at right thigh, and NBA logo at left. Matching "Sand-Knit" tagging here, size "34." Number "6" is markered on a swatch at interior waistband as well, and "1" HR" tailoring designator appears afterward. Wear is consistent but light, typical of late career Dr. J gamers. A faint autograph is visible at upper left chest. LOA from Lou Lampson. LOA from PSA/DNA (autograph). LOA from James Spence Authentication (autograph). Guide Value or Estimate: $4,000 - $6,000.
