Dallas, Texas: Well-known numismatic author Richard Giedroyc has joined the Dallas staff of Heritage Numismatic Auctions, America's #1 numismatic auctioneer. In his new position at Heritage, Giedroyc will have responsibilities in auction cataloging as well as continuing research and numismatic promotional writing.
Speaking on behalf of Heritage, Auction Director Bob Korver said, "We are delighted to have Rich on board. His wide range of numismatic experience ? in both U.S. and world coins ? will be a valuable addition to our knowledgeable staff of experts. I enjoyed reading his many articles in Coin World and elsewhere, and I am sure that his contributions to our catalogues will soon be noticed."
Giedroyc has been involved in numismatics since his fifth birthday, when he was given a $10 eagle by his grandfather. During the late 1970s, he was the managing partner for the numismatic division of Paris Bergman Jewelers, a New Jersey business selling primarily U.S. coins. In 1981, he then co-founded the "Classical Coin Newsletter" for collectors of ancient coins, later selling this business when he became International Editor for the Coin World newspaper in 1984. Giedroyc left Coin World in 1999 to work freelance in numismatics while pursuing non-numismatic business interests. Since then, his numismatic writings have appeared on the Internet at HeritageCoin.com, CoinUniverse.com, CoinFacts.com, Numismatists OnLine and other important web sites. He also writes the monthly "Around the World" column appearing in Krause Publications' World Coin News. Giedroyc is currently working on a book on world numismatic history, which may be released as early as this coming summer.
Giedroyc is a fellow of the American Numismatic Society in New York and of the Royal Numismatic Society in London, as well as a long-time member of the American Numismatic Association and other trade organizations.
Giedroyc can be contacted at Heritage's offices at 100 Highland Park Village, 2nd Floor, Dallas, TX 75205-2788. The telephone number is toll free 1-800-872-6467 (800-US COINS) or at 214-528-3500, extension 303.
