Mavs Fever and Mavs Memorabilia: What does the championship mean for the value of your Mavs stuff?
Heritage Auction specialists say the time is right to sell; offering Dirk and Jet ’06-’07 jerseys in Sunday, July 3 Internet only auction
DALLAS, TX – With the Dallas Mavericks first ever franchise NBA World Championship securely in hand, and with the Mavs back home and celebrating with their fans, Dallas-based Heritage Auctions has seen the demand for and potential prices on game-used Mavericks memorabilia experiencing an entirely new level of interest – especially if it pertains to 2011 Finals MVP Dirk Nowitski or Jason “Jet” Terry.
“It’s safe to say that, since last Sunday night, June 12, when the team became champions, whatever your good game-used Mavericks memorabilia was worth before is now easily double that,” said Mark Jordan, Consignment Director for Sports at Heritage. “Dirk is now firmly in the pantheon of the greatest players ever and Jet has cemented his place as one of the great NBA sixth-men. This translates into greater value on any authentic game-used gear.”
The auction house has seen a definite uptick in the number of calls from collectors with Mavericks material asking about its potential at auction. These calls have been matched only by inquiries from collectors that now want t o get their hands on a piece of Mavs history.
Heritage is currently offering 2006-2007 autographed game-used jerseys from both Nowitski and Terry and both, estimated at $3,000+ and $1,000+, respectively, look highly likely to well exceed those amounts.
“These are some of the nicest game-used Mavericks jerseys we’ve ever offered,” said Jordan. “Adding the value of the autograph to the quality of the pieces and you have very desirable pieces of memorabilia. I would urge anyone that has a good piece from a Mav, whether it’s a headband, a wristband or a pair of shoes, to seriously consider its value right now on the open market.”
