Description:
1953 Topps Baseball Strips Forming a Complete Sheet (10 Strips of 10). Exceptionally scarce find surfaced almost twenty-five years ago in the warehouse of a carting company hired by Topps to dispose of their salvage in the 1950's. While this company was particularly effective in its work, with not a single uncut sheet from the 1953 set known to the hobby today, somehow these one hundred cards survived in the form of ten horizontally cut strips of ten. A bit of jigsaw puzzle work proved this to be a partially cut complete sheet, providing the collecting community with a singularly unique treasure. For the cardboard historians among us, the reconstructed sheet acts as a Rosetta Stone of sorts, providing clues as to why some cards from the second great Topps set are relatively easy to locate, and others particularly difficult. Other Hall of Famers appearing at least once: Schoendienst, Feller, Irvin, Mize, Slaughter, Reese and Mathews. While we must stress that Jackie, Campy and Mickey are each blessed by perfectly balanced cuts at top and bottom, in other cases the cuts are too high or low, so as to travel into the boun
