Description:
The Cowboys' First NFL Championship!
1971-72 Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl Championship Ring. The twelfth time was a charm for this Lone Star State crew, which finally planted its flag atop the NFL mountain at the completion of a dozen seasons of existence. Though the Cowboys had been the dominant force in the NFC East for six years as they entered Super Bowl VI, they had yet to shake the perception as a team that couldn't win the big game, a widespread impression only hardened by their error-plagued loss to the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl V. But their twenty-four to three domination of the Dolphins in New Orleans proved the doubters wrong, a victory that appears all the more impressive when considering it was Miami's final loss before posting the NFL's only perfect season in 1972.

Presented is the ring awarded to the Cowboys' Public Relations Director, who personally consigned the ring to auction along with a signed letter of provenance. Identical in design to those awarded to Roger Staubach, Rayfield Wright and the members of the fabled "Doomsday Defense," the gorgeous creation features a diamond-studded face and the logo blue star at center, encircled by raised text announcing "Dallas Cowboys, World Champions." Left shank provides a Cowboys helmet in miniature framed by "C. Mosher" and "1971." The Lombardi Trophy and NFL logo joins text reading "1971, Super Bowl" on right shank.

Interior band is stamped "Balfour 14K," and measures to a size ten and a half. Total weight is thirty-nine and a half grams. In the interest of full disclosure, we note a tiny chip to the center diamond, but this is only apparent upon the closest of inspection. There are otherwise no condition issues of note. Our records indicate this is the first 1971 Cowboys ring (excluding salesman's samples) to reach the hobby's auction block. Letter of provenance from original recipient. LOA from PSA/DNA #T00414.
