Description:
Ichiro ties the record on "Jackie Robinson Night."
2009 Ichiro Suzuki Game Worn Seattle Mariners Jersey--A New Japanese "Hit King" is Crowned! While the American press remained primarily fixated on the anniversary ceremonies honoring the brave Jackie Robinson, Seattle's Safeco Field swarmed with Japanese press anxious to see their nation's most celebrated ballplayer make national history. As the Mariners took the field to face the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on April 15, 2009, the superstar outfielder stood two short of 1959 Pacific League Rookie of the Year Isao Harimoto at 3,083 career hits, Ichiro's tally split between service both to Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball and Major League play.

With Mr. Harimoto in the stands, flown to America to witness the historic changing of the guard, Ichiro singled in the bottom of the third and then emphatically claimed a piece of the throne with a dramatic seventh inning grand slam. "That's pretty much Ichiro," Harimoto announced through an interpreter after the game with characteristic humility. "The greatness of Ichiro."

Presented is the home white jersey Ichiro Suzuki was wearing as he pulled even with Isao Harimoto in dramatic fashion. While the shimmering "Mariners" text and logo left sleeve patch are standard Ichiro fare, the number "42" on verso pays tribute to a man who paved the way for ballplayers of all races. Tail holds "Majestic Authentic Collection" labeling with "+1/8" Slv" and size "44" flap tags. A printed "Property of Seattle Mariners 2009" swatch is below. A single game's wear is evident, and rear numeral is autographed by Ichiro in 10/10 silver sharpie.

The jersey was sold in the 2010 Mariners Care Silent Auction, and is accompanied by team paperwork documenting the sale. MLB Authentication sticker appears on rear numeral. Ticket from the game is included. Letter of provenance from Mariners Care. MLB Authentication 187413 LH. Full LOA from PSA/DNA (autograph). Full LOA from James Spence Authentication (autograph).
