Description:
1950's Ted Williams Game Worn Boston Red Sox Undershirt. Lengthy letter of provenance details a relationship between the consignor's father, former Red Sox VP and GM Kevin O'Connell, and Boston's greatest baseball hero. "Ted Williams and Tim McAuliffe [namesake of Red Sox uniform supplier] were both close friends with my Dad and frequent visitors to our home in Belmont," it details. "The 'Williams' shirt with #9, altered with my Dad's initials, 'RNO'C," was given to him by Ted." The jersey exhibits solid wear with an off-white wool body and navy sleeves, instantly recognizable from countless photos of Williams and other Red Sox of the era. Rear exterior collar area is hand-markered as described in letter of provenance, the number "9" and recipient's initials quite clearly applied with different instruments. "Wilson" label appears at interior collar. No damage to note. A rare opportunity to own a game worn garment from the greatest hitter of all time without breaking the bank. Letter of provenance from son of original recipient. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
